“Chaski, meaning ‘messenger’ in Quechua, is a journal whose main objective is the dissemination and promotion of museum activity in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ten issues published to date have compiled and shared activities and projects from the different countries that make up the great Latin American and Caribbean continent, with the aim of sharing experiences not only locally, but more broadly with the rest of the ICOM community. With great satisfaction, Chaski has been able to confirm that a journal with these characteristics enjoys wide acceptance in the region, as it complements the various important existing national publications. It also constitutes a means of support for disseminating the work of the Latin American sections of the international committees, an activity that promotes the exchange of specialised knowledge and experiences.

Based on the above reflections, the present issue consists of five sections:

Editorial Letter, which analyses and reflects on the different articles in the journal; ‘The Latin American Voice in Prague’, which brings together five examples of papers presented at the ICOM General Assembly held in Prague in 2022; the section ‘Defining the Almost Indefinable’, which addresses the complex task of establishing a definition of a museum; the section dedicated to an interview with a Latin American specialist, devoted to Cuauhtémoc Medina, Mexican curator; and in the section ‘Chaski Recommends’, the long and difficult journey of ICOFOM to reach a definition of a museum is discussed.” Yani Herreman (Editor, 2023)
