The 2026 edition of Chaski Magazine brings together an international team of specialists in museology, cultural heritage, research, and museum management from various Latin American countries.
Their academic and professional expertise strengthens the journal’s editorial process, guaranteeing a publication that promotes knowledge exchange, critical thinking, and the diversity of voices that characterize Latin American and Caribbean museology.

Leonardo Mellado González
Chile
Master in Museology | Historian | Curator | Researcher
Leonardo Mellado González holds a Master’s degree in Museology, a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and is a Professor of History, Geography, and Civics. Throughout his career, he has carried out distinguished work as an academic, historian, curator, researcher, and consultant in the Latin American museum sphere.
He served as president of ICOM Chile between 2020 and 2025 and was a member of the Advisory Council of Museums of Chile. He has held roles at the National Historical Museum and the Violeta Parra Museum, an institution where he was executive director and founder.
His academic research focuses on heritage education, historical memory, and museological theory, with a special emphasis on Museología Mestiza (Mestizo Museology). He currently serves on the Executive Board of the International Committee of Social Museology (IC SOMUS) and works as Community Engagement Coordinator at the National Archives of Chile.

Argentina
Museum Conservator | Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
Specialist in contemporary museology with an extensive background in teaching, academic management, and institutional development. She served as president of ICOFOM LAC for two terms and has driven key editorial and legislative initiatives related to the protection of heritage and Argentine museums.

Armando Gagliardi Radomile
Venezuela
Art Historian | Museologist | Educator
He has an extensive career in national museum leadership, university instruction, and museum policy formulation in Venezuela. He is currently president of ICOM Venezuela (2026–2029), editor of Museos.ve magazine, and a member of the Academic Committee for the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Policy and Management at the Central University of Venezuela.

Manuelina Maria Duarte Cândido
Brazil
Professor | Museologist | Anthropologist
An international leading figure in social museology and anthropology. She has built a distinguished academic career in Brazil and Europe, alongside managing museum institutions and serving on the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM). Her work focuses on research, training, and international cooperation.

Carlos Arturo Soto-Lombana
Colombia
Ph.D. in Education | University Professor | Researcher
Tenured professor at the University of Antioquia and a researcher specializing in museums, science centers, and learning. His work has contributed to strengthening higher education and studying educational processes within Latin American cultural institutions.

Silvana M. Lovay
Argentina
Ph.D. in Educational Sciences | Master in Museology
Researcher specializing in education, museology, and decoloniality. She has led research projects, international cooperation efforts, and professional training programs, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors of CECA-ICOM. She currently coordinates Institutional Relations and Professional Training at the National Museum Estancia Jesuítica de Alta Gracia.

Nathiam Gabriela Vega Rodríguez
Venezuela
Museologist | Ph.D. in Cultural Heritage
With over two decades of experience in the Venezuelan museum sector, she has directed museums, coordinated the National Museum System, and led collection management and editorial production projects. She is currently General Coordinator of Special Projects at the National Museums Foundation, a university professor, and secretary of ICOM LAC.

Amelia Rodríguez
Costa Rica
Art Historian | Industrial Design Engineer
Specialist in collection management, exhibition design, and cultural education. Since 2022, she has been part of the editorial team at Chaski Magazine, where she coordinates editorial workflows and contributes to the publication’s development. Her expertise bridges the museum field with design, innovation, and communication.
