ICOM LAC 2026 Call for Applications: New members for the Chaski Magazine Editorial Committee Call, News, Noticia

Chaski, meaning “messenger” in Quechua, is a magazine whose primary objective is the dissemination and promotion of museum activity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Board of Directors of the Regional Alliance of the International Council of Museums for Latin America and the Caribbean (ICOM LAC), aiming to strengthen and consolidate the editorial processes of Chaski magazine and broaden the participation of ICOM members in the region, opens this call for applications for museum workers and/or museology professionals interested in joining the Chaski Editorial Committee.
The formation of the new Editorial Committee seeks to reflect the cultural, social, and linguistic plurality of Latin America and the Caribbean, thereby contributing to the strengthening of a publication that represents the region and its multiple voices.
The purpose of this call is to fill two positions needed to complete the editorial team responsible for the content, graphic identity, and dissemination of the publication.
Timeline:
- Deadline for applications: March 22, 2026 (11:59 p.m., Central America time)
- Review period: March 23 to March 31, 2026
- Announcement of selected candidates: April 1, 2026
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be an active member of ICOM and belong to one of the 19 National Committees within the ICOM LAC Regional Alliance.
- The invitation is also extended to museum professionals from the region who, although residing outside their country of origin, are part of an ICOM LAC National Committee and identify with Southern Museologies (Museologías del Sur).
- Submit a brief statement (maximum one page) outlining professional background and interest in joining the Chaski magazine Editorial Committee.
- Submit an updated, abridged Curriculum Vitae (maximum two pages).

Selection Criteria: The following aspects will be considered:
- Editorial experience, preferably with previous participation in editorial committees or specialized publications in museums or cultural heritage.
- Regional and linguistic diversity, ensuring representation of different sub-regions and languages of the region.
- Verifiable professional experience linked to projects related to museums and museology.
- Voluntary nature of participation, understanding that joining the editorial team does not involve remuneration.
